I am originally from Northwest Iowa and currently live in South Dakota with my husband and our Weimaraner, Mosby. I enjoy refinishing our home back to its 1920s historic roots, woodworking, gardening, and playing board games. Like many, I love to travel, and one of my life’s ambition is to visit all the U.S. National Parks.
Most of all I love studying history and sharing what I have learned with the public and students in the classroom. I am especially interested in scholarship on memory, race, gender, and sexuality in any era of American history, but my particular area of study is the American Civil War Era through the mid-twentieth century and War & Society studies.
